EU4Health Programme 2021-2027

Summary

The Program aims to improve and promote health in the Union to reduce the burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases by:

  • protecting people from serious cross-border health threats
  • improving the availability, accessibility and affordability of medicines, medical devices and other crisis-related products in the EU
  • strengthening national health systems

Programme Description

The EU4Health program supports actions to prevent disease, in particular cancer, digital transformation of health systems, strengthening the health system and the healthcare workforce. It will pave the way for a strong European Health Union that will improve and safeguard the health of all EU citizens.

The EU4Health program has the following objectives:

  • Improving and promoting health in the Union.
  • Protecting people in the Union from serious cross-border health threats.
  • Improving the availability, accessibility and affordability of medicines, medical devices and crisis – related products.
  • Enhancing the resilience of health systems and resource efficiency.

The Commission is working to improve the prevention, preparedness, surveillance and response to cross-border health threats.
