RDA Open Call for optimising (RDA) open science frameworks and guidelines in the context of EOSC – Round 2

Summary

This call invites applications from research groups, including the RDA groups, to demonstrate how RDA data sharing solutions can be reused, optimised and implemented in the EOSC environment, in particular in the context of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) Portal Catalogue and Marketplace.

This call specifically targets small projects to show implementation and take-up of existing outputs and specifications, specifically those that the RDA community has enabled, while aims to support and encourage  adoption of existing RDA outputs and recommendations which can benefit the community around EOSC and to promote new examples and lessons learnt.

Detailed Call Description

The European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) is a new area of collaboration for many scientific research communities and this call will provide an opportunity to engage more deeply on interoperability across disciplines.

A wide range of activities – including promotional, analysis and technical documentation activities – can be funded through this call, such as:

  • Analysis of existing RDA technical documentation and if it is fit for purpose, where it can be optimised in the context of EOSC.
  • RDA Recommendations: promoting existing recommendations within a disciplinary community with the aim of data sharing in a federated system such as EOSC, for example integration into horizontal or disciplinary infrastructures and interfaces and implementation scenarios for the EOSC federating core.
  • Translating a RDA recommendation into a technical document or a manual and set out how future communities can use it.
  • Facilitating a workshop to discuss and compare EOSC Future technical components in an international context.
  • Technical solutions or design studies demonstrating the suitability of the EOSC catalogue and marketplace for the long-tail of research data.
  • Global approaches including the RDA’s Global Open Research Commons initiative.
