Horizon Europe is the European Union (EU) funding programme for the period 2021 – 2027, which targets the sectors of research and innovation. The programme’s budget is around € 95.5 billion, of which € 5.4 billion is from NextGenerationEU to stimulate recovery and strengthen the EU’s resilience in the future, and € 4.5 billion is additional aid.
There is an increasing use of drones in the EU for sectoral and social purposes. Proposals under this call will support the effective development of drones. Will contribute:
(a) enhancing sustainability performance and competitiveness in agriculture, forestry and rural areas through the further development of digital and data technologies as key capabilities; and
(b) the development of innovative governance models that enable sustainability and resilience, in particular to achieve better informed decision-making processes through drone research and innovation.
Proposals should cover all of the following aspects:
Proposals may involve financial support to third parties e.g. to academic researchers, hi-tech startups, SMEs, rural communities and other multidisciplinary actors, to, for instance, develop, test or validate developed assessment approaches or collect or prepare data sets or provide other contributions to achieve the project objectives.

The financial support to third parties can only be provided in the form of grants. Maximum 20% of the EU funding can be allocated to this purpose.
