The Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF) announces the new Call for Proposals of the “PRIMA” program.
The “PRIMA” Program aims to address challenges in the Mediterranean region, such as climate change, food security, water scarcity and the unsustainability of agricultural systems. Specifically, the thematic areas of the program are the following:
- Thematic Area 1 – Water management
- Thematic Area 2 – Farming systems
- Thematic Area 3 – Agrofood chain
The Program announces two Calls – Section 1 and Section 2 with a total budget of €69,482,500.
The Section 1 – concerns projects that will receive funding from European Union funds and is managed entirely by the PRIMA organization.
The Section 2 – concerns projects financed by national resources of the countries participating in the Initiative.
Cypriot organizations can participate in both invitations.
Section 1
The budget is €32,850,000.
Proposals are submitted through a special platform that will be announced on PRIMA website and the deadline for proposals is 22 March 2023, 17.00 (CET).
All Cypriot entities have the right to participate in the program in question, given that the participating transnational network meets the eligibility criteria defined in the PRIMA invitation.

Section 2
Budget of Section 2 is €36,632,500, while the national call budget is €400,000, with a maximum funding of €200,000 per project.
The submission of the transnational proposal is made through a special platform on the PRIMA website with a closing date for the submission of proposals on March 29, 2023, 17.00 (CET).
The Cypriot networks must submit elements of the transnational proposal through the IRIS portal of the RIF and the deadline for submitting proposals is April 5, 2023, 13.00 (Cyprus Time).
Research Organizations, Businesses and Other Private Sector Entities are eligible to participate in this program.
