Cross-Border Cooperation Program Interreg V-A Greece – Cyprus 2014-2020

Summary

Eligible areas:
Eligible areas of the program are the Regions of Crete (prefectures of Heraklion, Lasithi, Rethymno and Chania), North Aegean (Prefectures of Lesbos, Samos and Chios) and South Aegean (Prefecture of Dodecanese and Prefecture of Cyclades) in Greece, as well as the whole of Cyprus.
General objective – Strategic objectives – The Interreg V-A Greece-Cyprus cooperation program aims to:
increasing the competitiveness of the eligible area by supporting entrepreneurship and the use of information and communication technologies.
covering the fields of energy, climate change and transport, through the promotion of a low-carbon economy
disaster prevention, promotion of natural and cultural heritage and technologies for the protection of natural resources.

Programme Description

The program will focus on the following Priority Axes:

 

  1. Strengthening competitiveness and entrepreneurship in the cross-border region.
Specific Objective 1.1 – Increase the use of ICT in areas of common interest (in the field of e-government, e-business, e-culture and tourism).
Special Objective 1.2 – Strengthening the extroversion of SMEs
  1. Efficient use of energy and sustainable transport.
Special Objective 2.1 – Increasing energy savings in public buildings
Specific Objective 2.2 – Reducing the environmental footprint of public transport in urban areas with significant air pollution
Specific Objective 2.3 – Strengthening interoperability and safety in maritime transport
  1. Preservation and protection of the environment and risk prevention.
Specific Objective 3.1 – Improving the joint management of risks from natural, technological and humanitarian disasters
Specific Objective 3.2 – Improving the attractiveness of areas of natural and cultural interest
Specific Objective 3.3 – Improving Marine Spatial Planning and Coastal Zone Management
Specific Objective 3.4 – Improving efficiency in the use of waste and water resources

Total Budget

€ 54.072.416,00 come from the European Regional Development Fund - ERDF (85%) and €8,110,865 (15%) from national resources of Greece and Cyprus.
