MSCA Conference 2021

Start date: Monday November 15, 2021 00:00

End date: Tuesday November 16, 2021 23:59

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) have made a significant contribution to the European Research Area (ERA) and free movement of people and knowledge, by promoting the mobility of excellent researchers across countries, disciplines and sectors.

With the MSCA Conference, the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU aims to strengthen the impact of the MSCA programme through achieving the goals of the new ERA. Additionally, it will address unbalanced mobility flows that still represent a major challenge and contribute to the research and innovation divide within the European Union.

The Conference will focus on the issue of return migration and reintegration processes of MSCA researchers after the completion of their scholarships to their countries of origin. These issues are challenges to the multidimensional intra-European mobility flows of researchers. To achieve a more balanced talent circulation within the EU, we believe that balanced input and output mobility flows are necessary, in which reintegration processes play an important role.

The Conference will foster discussions on the importance of additional measures to attract researchers back to their country of origin after their fellowships, which are aimed at: creating targeted training and career  opportunities for researchers, improving working conditions and environment, supporting investments in human capital, and supporting science and technology infrastructures. The Conference is a continuation of the work of the Croatian and German MSCA conferences and the Portuguese Council Conclusions on attractive research careers and brain circulation.
