The “Excellence Hubs” Program aims to promote scientific excellence, which is a fundamental foundation for the sustainable development of the Research, Technological Development, and Innovation (RTDI) system, through the funding of pioneering research projects in cutting-edge fields. Additionally, the Program is expected to contribute to creating development prospects for the local economy and addressing contemporary social and other challenges.
The projects may have an interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral character and should fall under one of the following Scientific Areas:
- Life Sciences
- Physical Sciences and Engineering
- Social and Human Sciences
The total budget for the national call is €3,000,000, distributed as follows:
- €1,200,000 for the Life Sciences Scientific Area
- €1,200,000 for the Physical Sciences and Engineering Scientific Area
- €600,000 for the Social and Human Sciences Scientific Area
The submission deadline for proposals through the IRIS portal of the RIF is November 26, 2025, at 13:00.

RIF is organising an informative Webinar for the new «EXCELLENCE» Programme, on Tuesday 7 October 2025, time 11:00-11:30 (local time) in order to support interested parties and to provide information about the funding rules and conditions.
