Summary

This Action aims to support the organisation of sport events with a European dimension in the following fields:

  • volunteering in sport;
  • social inclusion through sport;
  • fight against discrimination in sport, including gender equality;
  • encouraging healthy lifestyles for all: projects under this priority will mainly focus on:
    1. the implementation of the three pillars of the HealthyLifestyle4All initiative;
    2. the implementation of the Council Recommendation on health-enhancing physical activity and the EU Physical Activity Guidelines;
    3. the support to the implementation of the European Week of Sport;
    4. the promotion of sport and physical activity as a tool for health;
    5. the promotion of all activities encouraging the practice of sport and physical activity;
    6. promotion of traditional sport and games.

Detailed Call Description

This action provides financial support for the organisation of:

  • European local sport events
  • European wide sport events
  • Large-scale European sport events.

Large-scale European sport events aim to reach a very high impact and implement follow up activities to ensure legacy in terms of societal benefits and promotion of inclusion through sport.

Category of Sport events

European Local events: At least one event per country.

  • Type I: from a minimum of 3 organisations coming from 3 different eligible countries to a maximum of 5 organisations coming from 5 different eligible countries. €200.000
  • Type II: a minimum of 6 organisations coming from 6 different eligible countries. €300.000

European-wide events: one event with at least 10 participating organisations from at least 10 different eligible countries (including the applicant organisation). €450.000

Large-Scale European events: one event from at least 15 organisations coming from 15 different eligible countries From €1.000.000 to €1.500.000

Eligibility For Participation Notes

For the European local events (Type I and II) not-for-profit sport events must take place in each EU Member State or third country associated to the Programme involved in the project.

For the European-wide event, a single sport event taking place in the country where the coordinator is established unless duly justified in the application. In this case, the event can take place in the country where one of the participating organisations is established.

For the Large-Scale European event, the activities must take place in a EU Member State or in a third country associated to the Programme. The sport event must showcase a minimum
of 7 different sports and must include activities implemented throughout the year following the event, to ensure its legacy in terms of societal benefits (e.g. social, educational, environmental, health) and promotion of inclusion through sport.
