SUMMARY:ERC Proposal Writing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF)\, organises on Wednesday 17 July 2024\, 09:00 – 13:00\, a proposal writing workshop for the 2025 Calls of the European Research Council (ERC)\, in Cleopatra Hotel\, in Nicosia (room AFRODITI).\n\nThe workshop aims to offer to researchers preparing ERC proposals to be submitted under the 2025 ERC Calls (Starting Grant\, Consolidator Grant\, Advanced Grant\, Synergy Grant)\, practical advice\, through an interactive event. Topics covered include the submission and evaluation procedure\, the evaluation criteria\, the common reasons for rejections and issues of concern and tips and advice on the content of the proposals.\n\nInterested researchers must have basic knowledge regarding ERC Calls (specificities\, eligibility\, project characteristics etc)\, having watched the online info-day organised by RIF on the 11th of July 2024 or similar events or/and having studied official documents. DESCRIPTION:The Kick-Off event of EIT Community RIS HUB in Cyprus\, is set to enhance the Cyprus innovation ecosystem. Scheduled for June 18\, 2024\, from 13:30 to 18:30 at the CYENS Centre of Excellence in Nicosia\, this event promises to raise the awareness of university students\, innovators\, entrepreneurs\, researchers\, policy makers\, and government officials regarding the many EIT innovation initiatives that they can take advantage of.\n\nThe Kick-Off will feature representatives from all EIT Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs)\, who will outline and present their initiatives and the numerous opportunities they offer. Additionally\, local policymakers\, government officials\, leading researchers\, innovators\, and entrepreneurs will provide an overview of the current state of our local ecosystem. This combination will enable all attendees to understand how EIT can fit into the status quo and ultimately uplift our research\, innovation\, and entrepreneurship ecosystem.\n\nSupporting the Cyprus Innovation Ecosystem\n\nThe Cyprus Research\, Innovation\, and Entrepreneurship (RIE) ecosystem is experiencing significant growth\, supported by strategic governmental initiatives\, active academic institutions\, and a dynamic private sector. The National Strategy Framework for Research and Innovation (2019-2023) and the Deputy Ministry of Research\, Innovation\, and Digital Policy have been central to creating a conducive regulatory environment and increasing funding for R&D activities. However\, the ecosystem faces challenges such as a limited domestic market and difficulties in securing funding specifically investments for new ventures. Despite these hurdles\, Cyprus leverages its strategic location\, skilled workforce\, and favourable business environment to drive innovation. Substantial EU funding through programs like Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe\, alongside national funding and incentives\, offers significant opportunities for growth and collaboration.\n\nAbout the EIT Community RIS Hub Cyprus\n\nThe EIT Community RIS Hub in Cyprus is dedicated to further enhancing the innovation divide and significantly enhancing the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the island. By connecting local actors to the extensive EIT pan-European ecosystem\, the hub fosters sustainable growth through specially tailored RIS activities. DESCRIPTION:The Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF) would like to inform interested researchers that on 7th of June 2024\, 11:00 CEST\, the European Research Council (ERC) will organize a webinar on lump sum funding for the ERC Advanced Grant 2024 Call\, that will be streamed via the ERC channel on YouTube. Specifically\, representatives from the ERC Executive Agency will answer relevant questions\, which can be sent in advance to this email address: ERC-2024-ADG-APPLICANTS@ec.europa.eu. Useful information on the lump sum funding can also be found in a Q&A document published by ERC recently\, while more general information on the 2024 ERC Calls were presented during a past webinar.\n\nIt is also noted that the Information for Applicants document for the ERC Advanced Grant 2024 Call has just been published\, while the Call is expected to open on 29 May 2024.\n\nERC Advanced Grants fund already established scientists that are able to present high quality frontier research and important research achievements in their field. The sole evaluation criterion is scientific excellence. The funding can reach €2.5 million for up to 5 years\, with the possibility for one additional million in specific cases.
